“Well, well, well,” sneered Sherwood Spider, “what have we here? It looks like I’ve snared a juicy bee, and she’s showing a little fear!”
“Yes,” said Betty, “I am a bee and I admit I am afraid, but I’m begging you for mercy! Could you please show some here today?”
Sherwood asked, “Why should I show you mercy? You’re just a little bee! If I were to let you go, just what’s in it for me?”
“You never know, Mr. Spider,” he heard Betty say. “You may find yourself someday as someone else’s prey.”
“There you’ll be with fear in your eyes and looking in his face, you’ll beg for mercy from him. You’ll ask him for some grace.”
“Then you’ll remember me,” Betty went on to say, “and how you changed your heart and showed me mercy here today.”

About the Book
Betty Bee makes her home in sunny meadows of black-eyed susans and daisies—not too far from the clear blue pond and frogs with the lazies. About the Author
Jacquelyn Arnold, a Missouri native, now lives in western Nebraska. She is the mother of two and grandmother of three grandsons and one granddaughter. She is a paraeducator at her local high school. This is her fifth book and will form part of a series of eight.
