On this particular day, as she was playing with her friends, Betty noticed a dragonfly, adrift in the wind.
This poor little dragonfly looked so alone and sad. Betty could tell that his day was very, very bad.
“My dear Dragonfly!” Betty called out to him, “Why are you just adrift in the wind?”
“There you are being tossed to and fro. You seem as if you have nowhere to go!”
“Oh, dear! Oh, my!” Betty heard him say, “I just found out today that my very best friend is moving away!”
“How can I go on each and every day, knowing that my best friend and I will no longer play?”
“My heart is aching. I just want to cry. It’s hard for me to move my wings. See? I can barely fly!”

Betty Bee finds out that Duncan Dragonfly’s heart aches so much that he can barely fly, but she reassures him that it’s okay to mourn the loss of a friend. “But then one day,” she continues to say, “you’ll find comfort in new friends and be ready to play!”
“God wants each of us to know—when we feel so all alone—when there are no friends to be found, He’ll be right there to comfort us—with His love He will surround,” she says.

Jacquelyn S. Arnold, a Missouri native, lives in western Nebraska. She is the mother of two and grandmother of three. She is a paraeducator and accompanist at her local high school. This is the second book in an eight-part series
