There in the early morning hours, somewhere between dusk and dawn, Betty Bee woke from her sleep and gave a little yawn.
She wasn't sure what had awakened her, but as she lay there in her bed, she heard God call to her--a whisper in her head.
God told her there was a family of rats who had just moved into the old abandoned barn. They had been traveling for several days and finally found someplace warm.
"Ridley and Rosabel", God told her, "have two little mouths to feed, so Betty, could you ask your friends to take them bags of seed?"
"Also, have someone fill some pails with water, from the springs at the south end of the pond. I knew I could count on you, Betty. I knew you would respond."

About the Book
Betty Bee makes her home in sunny meadows of black-eyed susans and daisies--not too far from the clear blue pond and frogs with the lazies. About the Author
Jacquelyn Arnold, a Missouri native, now lives in western Nebraska. She is the mother of two and grandmother of three. She is a paraeducator and accompanist at her local high school. This is her fourth book and will form part of a series of eight.
