The Bible makes it clear that God is a Spirit. If God is a Spirit, it then means that spiritual realities can only be perceived BY THE SPIRIT, which transcends human senses (Romans 8:8). Ephesians 1:3 stipulate that God has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in heavenly places in Christ. This then implies that those who have yielded Lordship over their lives to Christ are born of Him. They are consequently received the power (ability) to become the children of God. According to John 1:12-13 (KJV) “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” Due to this relationship, they have their spirits enabled to operate with God their Father. This enablement is what gives us the spiritual consciousness (awareness). In 1 Corinthians 2:12, we read “Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit who is from God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us by God.”
At creation, the Spirit of God did the formation of all things -,I> “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.” (Genesis 1:1-2). It is recorded for us in the Bible that God spoke to His people through those He anointed and the prophets who were able to discern when His Spirit speaks. David said in 2 Samuel 23:2-3 (NIV) “The Spirit of the Lord spoke through me; his word was in my tongue. 3. The God of Israel spoke, the Rock of Israel said...” God still speaks today and ministers By His (Holy) Spirit to His Children who relate with Him by the spirit. If we deny that God speaks to us today, we deny the unchanging nature of God. In any case, we see this manifestation in Acts 2:1-12.
God, By His Spirit ministers to those in relationship with Him, who listen to hear Him beyond their ears, even with their hearts. They know in their spirit/inner man and have the conviction/witness in their hearts that He is the One. They are endowed with discernment beyond the physical to spiritually receive and perceive what God is communicating. He speaks to them at any time. As they listen to Him and obey Him, they receive further inspiration, guidance, and are led in the path of righteousness, excellence, glory and dominion. The Spirit of God in them (Joel 2:28) gives them this advantage. “…the mystery which has been hidden from ages and from generations, but now has been revealed to His saints” (Colossians 1:26). The privilege of the New Birth (salvation) took place in our spirit, regenerated our spirit to have divine access, receive divine insight, knowledge, understanding and foresight on episodes in divine plans (Matthew 13:11). This is made possible by reason of the supernatural and higher life received through the redemptive power of Christ. Apostle Paul narrated to King Agrippa about the enablement and empowerment received by the reason of divine regeneration. “...to make you a minister and a witness both of the things which you have seen and of the things which I will yet reveal to you” (Acts 26:16). When the Hand of the Lord is upon a man, he operates in the miraculous and the extra-ordinary. The Spirit of God and anointing did it for Saul (1 Samuel 10:1-11). This special empowerment is hinged on God’s Spirit at work.
Anyone recreated and redeemed of God has His Spirit. He receives exposure (Psalm 119:130) to the spiritually obscured things by divine revelation (light). God also speaks directly to his heart in audible voice as He did with Moses and with Saul. He does also through Scriptures as It ministers to our spirits as well as through visions and dreams as He did Joseph.
Christ has given us the Holy Spirit for our advantage (John 14:16-18). The Christian at Antioch took advantage of this privilege and they witnessed in such extra-ordinary way.
“But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.” 1 John 2:27.
