About the Book

For years, I was drowning in 7-day workweeks. Obsessive bank balance checking. Constant financial fear. I called myself a Christian, but money was my real god. Then my future wife issued an ultimatum: "Tithing isn't negotiable for me." Give away 10% when I was barely surviving? It seemed insane. But I was desperate enough to try. Fifteen years later, that decision changed everything—not because God made me rich, but because He set me free from the anxiety and slavery money had created in my life. MY MONEY OR HIS is a 21-session Bible study that traces what Scripture actually says about money, tithing, and generosity from Genesis to Revelation. You'll discover: • Why Cain and Abel's story reveals the difference between giving God your first vs. your leftovers • What the Passover teaches about the true cost of redemption—and what it means for your wallet • Why Malachi is the only place God says "Test me"—and what happens when you do • What Jesus really meant by "Where your treasure is, there your heart will be." • How the early church handled money—and why there were "no needy persons among them." This isn't prosperity gospel. This is biblical stewardship. This isn't about getting rich. This is about getting free. If you're tired of being controlled by money, if financial anxiety keeps you awake at night, if you wonder whether God's promises actually work—this study will challenge everything you thought you knew. The question isn't whether you can afford to tithe. The question is: can you afford not to?

About the Author

George Goodwyn, Jr., knows what it’s like to be controlled by money. For years, he worked seven days a week as a self-employed affordable home builder, checking his bank balance multiple times daily and living in perpetual fear of not having enough. He called himself a Christian, but when it came to his finances, he was firmly in control—or so he believed. That changed fifteen years ago when his future wife, Sarah, issued an ultimatum that would transform his life: “Tithing isn’t negotiable for me.” Barely surviving financially, the idea of giving away 10% before paying anything else seemed insane. But George was desperate enough to try. What began as reluctant obedience became one of the three most important decisions of his life. God didn’t make George rich, but He freed him from the anxiety, stress, and slavery that money had created. The constant checking of bank accounts stopped. The seven-day work week ended. The fear dissolved. Today, George leads a Tuesday morning Bible study for men in the construction industry, which helped create this devotional. He wrote “My Money or HIS” for his children and grandchildren, but also for every person who’s tired of being controlled by their finances. George lives in Montgomery, Alabama, with his wife, Sarah. They have 6 grown children and 7 grandchildren under 4 years old. When he’s not building homes, spending time with family, or leading Bible studies, he’s serving in Uganda with Promise International. “My Money or HIS” is his first book—an in-depth 21-session Bible study that traces what Scripture actually says about money, tithing, and generosity from Genesis to Revelation. It’s not prosperity gospel. It’s biblical stewardship. It’s not about getting rich. It’s about getting free. For a daily devotional, he has also written “My Money or HIS- Devotion”
