MORNING SONGS
More than the birds sing, I raise morning songs
Steadfastly praising You, wakening the dawn
Humbly adoring, I’m down at Your feet
Lifting my praises; that’s when I’m complete
Though words are broken and notes fall short
I know You hear my affection pour forth
Within Your presence, I just want to stay
Delighting in You, Lord; I’m wordless to say
Creating new songs with all of my soul
Honoring You with each word makes me whole
You are the breath giving life to my poems
Inspiring purpose for Your glory alone
Just like a wind chime, the beauty begins
When You move the strings and bring forth the wind
With rapturous praise, I want to give more
May You feel how much I love You, Lord
Like sands on the shore and stars in the sky
My praise be vast! My praise reach high!
Glorious hallelujahs, as angels would send
May all my praise songs, to You, never end

Barbara Speicher enjoys writing personal accounts about God in her life, in addition to penning scriptural reflections in poetry and song. She wrote a book testifying to the reality of God through a number of personal experiences called God in My Life. As an English major and teacher, her interest in song-writing and educating children eventuated into creating and producing educational CDs and workbooks in various subjects under her company name: Learning by Song. Barbara lives in Tustin, California, with her husband, George, and near her three grown children: Kim, Kevin, and Katie. Being with her two grandsons, Cole and Daniel, bring much joy to her life.
