The Reason, William Sirls

Discovery Story: After hitting rock bottom and being incarcerated in 2007, William Sirls was given a fresh perspective on life, which he chose to share by self-publishing his book with WestBow Press. The Reason caught the attention of Thomas Nelson editors and was acquired and released in 2012.

What’s New: William was offered a multibook contract with Thomas Nelson. He has since released The Sinners’ Garden and continues to keep in touch with readers through his website, Facebook and Twitter.

Perfectly Unique, Annie Downs

Discovery Story: Annie self-published From Head to Foot with WestBow Press in 2011 with a mission to inspire young women. Her book quickly caught Zondervan’s eye, and the publisher offered her a contract. The book was released under the new title Perfectly Unique in 2012.

What's New: Since landing her book deal, Annie has continued writing, publishing and inspiring, releasing three more titles and connecting with her community of readers on Facebook, Twitter and her website.

Canary Song, Amy K. Sorrells

Discovery Story: Amy Sorrells won the 2011 Women of Faith Writing Contest with her memoir-turned-novel Canary Song (previously titled Comfort and Salvation). Her book was quickly noticed and acquired by traditional publisher David C. Cook and released under the new title How Sweet the Sound in March 2014.

What’s New: Amy’s second title, Then Sings My Soul, is due to be released by David C. Cook in March 2015. Amy keeps readers informed with her website and is connected on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

Discovery Story: Sharon Garlough Brown self-published Sensible Shoes with WestBow Press in hopes of reaching people with a message of faith. Her book was acquired by InterVarsity Press and released in 2013.

What’s New: Since its acquisition, Sensible Shoes has been transformed into a trilogy. Sharon’s second book in the series, Two Steps Forward: A Story of Persevering in Hope, will be released in October 2015. The final book, Barefoot: A Story of Surrendering to God, is scheduled to be released in 2016. Sharon touches base with readers through her website and Facebook.
