About the Book
Many have read Part 1 of Patricia’s memoir, Chinaberries and Beyond: A Teacher’s Childhood Journey, and have been asking for Part 2. It recounts her challenging but fun college life at NCCU, and the dangerous Civil rights Movement that landed her in jail three times. It details Patricia’s 41-year teaching career with students’ humor and achievements, as well as family and marriage to her same husband twice. Most importantly, it includes her spiritual visions and revelations that are special and personal. Upon graduating from college, Patricia begins her teaching career and marries her prankster, extrovert boyfriend, whose personality is perplexing. It takes two marriages before she figures him out. Who could predict this since he is the perfect husband around her family and friends? He needed an introvert, Patricia, so he could be himself without reprisals. Patricia teaches in NC and several other states. The female middle school principal in NC is livid and seeks revenge after Patricia writes two rebuttals regarding the principal’s unprofessional behavior towards her. Then, two students falsely accuse Patricia and she is suspended. The spiritual vision, Victory, predicts her return to school, where the principal is ruthless. Above all, Patricia is thankful for all the spiritual visions and revelations that show up in various ways.
