About the Book
When we “come out from among them” and separate ourselves from the noise, clamor, and unsavory influences of the world, we discover that the Still Small Voice of God still speaks—quietly and gently—to our hearts and minds. We must simply take the time to stop and listen. This is my second book of inspirational poetry, written after listening to and obeying the gentle nudges of that Voice, which would not be silent until I put pen to paper. Many of these poems speak of the state of my life at that moment—hope, joy, uncertainty, pain, or sorrow. Some are shaped by the impact of a sermon, testimony, song, or prayer, while others are simply reflections of the world around us. My prayer is that through these words, you may be encouraged, uplifted, and renewed. Whatever battle you may be facing, you do not face it alone. God loves you! He knows every detail of your life from beginning to end. Jesus understands your struggles, heartaches, and disappointments. Lean on Him and listen—for and to—that Still Small Voice. It will comfort and strengthen you, reminding you that you are His child and that He will never leave you. One day, when the storm has finally passed, you’ll look back and realize that indeed, Jesus was with you all along. 2 Corinthians 6:17a — “Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord...” 1 Kings 19:12 — “And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.” Isaiah 41:10 — “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” John 16:33 — “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” Matthew 11:28-30 — “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
