About the Book

From Water and Stone is a collection of sermons and stories shaped by grace, memory, and the quiet holiness of ordinary life. Drawing on Scripture, pastoral experience, and moments both tender and hard won, Thomas Patrick Nolan invites readers to listen for God’s voice in familiar places: at the kitchen table, along a riverbank, in the broken bread of shared lives, and in the stones we carry with us through time. These reflections are rooted in preaching and lived faith, yet they read like conversations—gentle, honest, and deeply human. With warmth and wisdom, the author explores what it means to belong to God and to one another, to trust grace when answers are unclear, and to discover that we are never as empty, lost, or alone as we sometimes fear. Like water shaping stone, these stories remind us that faith is formed slowly—by love, by patience, and by the steady presence of God among us. From Water and Stone is a book for seekers and believers alike, offering reassurance, hope, and a renewed sense of wonder at the sacredness woven through everyday life.
