About the Book
The Bible has much to say about eating and the spiritual implications of food. However, there are obvious problems with modern food consumption as evidenced by the widespread epidemic of obesity. Additionally, there are different opinions among believers about what they are allowed to eat. In this book we will examine what the Bible actually says about eating. Are certain foods forbidden, or is anything allowed? Is eating too much really a sin? How can those who are victims of gluttony overcome this issue? We will attempt to answer these questions and elaborate on related topics, especially the problem of gluttony in the church. Finally, we will consider the question, “Did Jesus eat two meals a day?” The first part of the book will lay the foundation for the more advanced exploration that will follow. We will see that the difficulty many experience with excess weight is often a spiritual problem, the sin of gluttony, and the only way to solve it is by spiritual means. Then we will show how overcoming spiritually can lead to victory over that sin and obesity. This will be followed by exploration of practical ways these spiritual principles can be applied. Ultimately we will explore the often unrecognized Biblical eating pattern of Jesus’ day (two meals a day) and show how this could be applied to modern man’s approach to diet and provide a long awaited answer to many of our problematic dietary issues.
