As we were going up the Indio Hill, there was a line of Diesel trucks (like always) slowing down traffic. Indio Hill had a 6% grade so diesel trucks would try to keep their momentum and not get slowed down by other trucks. If a truck was hauling something heavy and was going extra slow, the other trucks would go into the fast lane and try and pass. This ALWAYS slowed down traffic. We happened to be beside a diesel truck, passing in the fast lane when he decided he needed to pass the diesel truck in front of him. Either he didn’t see us OR like most times, they think they own the road and just come right over. We were in my dad’s Toyota Tacoma, and his hood was right at the back of the diesel’s cab/front of the trailer. The diesel decided to come over. We were in a part of the road that had large hills on either side of the road and NO shoulder. It was a two-lane area on I-10 and there was nowhere to go. We all just sat in silence as we watched that diesel start to come into our lane. Dad was honking but nothing was stopping him. There was no way out of that situation. We were about to get crushed by that truck. I just closed my eyes and waited…and in the blink of an eye, we were BEHIND the diesel. Literally…. There was no way we had time to slow down in time to not get hit by that truck but miraculously, we ended up behind him. I asked my dad and mom if they knew how that happened and they were in just as much disbelief as I was. In the natural world, we should have been crushed between the hill and the truck and either badly injured or dead. It’s as if the truck was picked up and moved. Unexplainable…. God’s protection.

About the Book
Shadrach, Meschach and Abednego were thrown into a fiery furnace by a king who wanted to destroy them. Instead, when they looked into the future, they saw “a fourth man with them”. That fourth man (God) delivered them out of that fire, unharmed and without a smell of smoke. Hindsight is real 20/20. Looking back over my life, I have seen how God has delivered me so many times out of the fire…without a smell of smoke. Here is, what I hope to be an inspirational book about how God has turned what was meant to harm you into a positive.
About the Author
Cindy Hermes is a believer in Christ first and foremost. She loves being a wife, mom of three children and a Mimi of two grandchildren. Her joy is in her family.
She was born in Southern California then moved to Oklahoma when she was 8. She attended school from first to eleventh grade in Oklahoma and then her family moved back to Southern California her Senior year. She met and married the love of her life there and had three beautiful children. She has been an owner and co-owner of multiple businesses, ranging from construction, finance and insurance. Her passion is business. She was a stay at home mom when her kids were young but once they were in school, she return to managing her companies.
Her hobbies are scrapbooking, reading, singing and going disc golfing with her husband.
