About the Book
I recently released Anam Cara (a Latin phrase meaning “Soul Friend”). The book is a selection of two sestinas, several Shakespearean sonnets written in traditional rhyme and meter using contemporary language, several free verse poems, four haiku, each of which demark four chapters, one limerick, and one performance poem Imagine a young man’s awakening when he walks down a dark path to look at a lunar eclipse, and when he walks away, he has a clear vision of true love. “Falling in Love with Selene” will take you down that dark path. In the sestina “Psalm of Sleep,” the narrator attempts to conjure you into a joining the narrative as part of the living, breathing language that will seduce others to sleep–an exhilarating journey!. In “The Man Who Carried Me,” the author invites you to join his 3rd Great Grandfather (a mid-19th century missionary with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) on an arduous journey, pushing and pulling his wife on a handcart odyssey across the Great Plains. Lastly, in a series of 5ive poems, I tantalize the reader to experience God’s preparation for dating, courtship, proposal, and from wedding day to post-marital bliss and beyond; these romantic interludes are a great read for those in the throes of love! My poems carry a flair for the whimsical, but they are about everyday events which everyone experiences. Thank you for looking at my Chapbook! Please pick up a copy for yourself and someone you love.
