God's Special Job for Jonah
A long, long time ago, in a sunny land near the sea, lived a man named Jonah. Jonah wasn't just any man. He was a prophet.
A prophet?.... A prophet is someone God talks to, and that person tells others what God says.
One day, God spoke to Jonah and gave him a very important mission.
“Jonah,” God said, “I want you to go to the big city of Nineveh. The people there are doing many wrong things. Tell them to stop and to turn their hearts back to Me.”
Nineveh was a huge, noisy city filled with people who had forgotten God’s ways. But even though they were making bad choices, God still loved them. He did not want to punish them. Instead, God wanted to forgive them and give them a second chance to do what was right.
Fun Thought for Kids: God’s heart was full of mercy, and He wanted Jonah to share that love with everyone in Nineveh.
