Dear Parents,
This month our Character word will be Kindness. This concept may be the most important Character trait for them to display. However, most children are willing to please those in authority, so it can also be the simplest principle for them to grasp, provided you use your God given creativity to bring out the best in those you have been blessed to Steward and mentor. This month our focus will be… how we can show Kindness in our words, our thoughts, and in our actions. Perhaps the most effective way to teach this principal is through the adults that display kindness themselves.
Our purpose will be to:
To set the foundation to do unto others as you
Would have them do unto you. It is important
to treat others the way you want to be treated.
Children will quickly learn that,
if they apply this
principle in life they will achieve better results
in all their relationships.
Children should learn how to display Kindness
in their classrooms as well as give examples
of acts of Kindness, they showed to a friend, or
an adult in their lives, or a family member,
and perhaps give examples of acts of
Kindness, they observed in others.
New vocabulary words:
Kindness: To be considerate of others
Considerate: To think about others with care
Empathy: To feel what another person feels
Memory Verses: Ephesians 4:32 Be kind to one another tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ also forgave you. (NKJ)
1 Corinthians 10:24 Let no one seek his own, but each one the other’s well- being. (NKJ)

Suggestions for parental guidance:
This can be a fun Character trait to teach your child at home in your daily living. Allow your child to see you displaying random acts of kindness, such as… When you see someone in need, pay for their meal, or gas. Take your child to a nursing home and make someone’s day by visiting them or bringing them flowers. Help an elderly neighbor out by raking leaves or shoveling snow, walk their pet, or bake them cookies. Make a cashier’s day by smiling at them and ask them how their day went. Give a hug to someone in need, help someone plant flowers. Give a large tip to a waitress, put a note in it and encourage your child to draw a picture on it.
Explain to your child how when we make others happy it will come back into our lives. Remember your child is like a tape recorder, everything that they hear and see you do, they will mimic. Start a habit of, random acts of kindness and they may continue it throughout their lives. Speak encouraging words of Love Hope and affirmation over them. They will live up to what is spoken over them. Sometimes your actions will speak the words, but the spoken word over your child will be so effective in bringing life to them. About the Book
Character Curriculum is a thoughtfully designed character education curriculum written by Darlene Narducci to help young children develop a strong moral foundation through engaging, age‑appropriate lessons. About the Author
Darlene Narducci has a degree in early childhood education and has worked with youngsters for many years as a director, teacher, and Sunday school teacher. She has owned two home daycares, was a puppeteer, wrote scripts for fifteen years, worked with homeless children and families, spent twelve years in minister’s training and holds a certificate in Christian counseling.
