About the Book

Many young people believe God’s promises but struggle to live them out.
They pray, dream, and hope, yet fall short academically, professionally, and personally. Some barely cope. Others give up. Only a few rise into the scriptural promise of being “above only.” The Achiever’s Compass is written to change that.
Rooted in Deuteronomy 28:13, this book bridges the gap between God’s promises and personal responsibility. It is not a collection of sermons or motivational slogans. Instead, it offers a thoughtful, practical, and spiritually grounded guide to disciplined living, intellectual excellence, wise decision-making, and character formation.
Drawing from Scripture, lived experience, and years of mentoring successful students, this book shows how faith and effort work together to produce lasting success without compromising integrity or the soul.
If you are a Christian young adult determined to rise, grow, and finish well, The Achiever’s Compass will help you find and stay on the upward path.

About the Author

Joseph A. Mayaki is a Christian teacher, mentor, and scholar whose life and work are devoted to helping young people discover and walk in God’s design for excellence. He holds a PhD in English and he’s on the verge of completing another in Writing and Rhetoric Studies. He has taught and mentored students across secondary, tertiary, and graduate levels in both Nigeria and the United States. Over the years, Joseph has consistently taught principles that integrate biblical faith, disciplined study, purposeful living, and practical success strategies. By God’s grace, many of his students have gone on to graduate with first-class degrees and distinctions, pursued graduate studies and PhDs, secured rewarding careers in industry, and serve fruitfully in Christian ministry. His teaching emphasizes that success is neither accidental nor mystical but the result of aligning God’s promises with faithful obedience, discipline, and wise habits. Joseph’s academic journey was marked by uncommon rigor, consistency, and devotion. These are habits he developed and refined through years of focused study, prayer, and intentional living. These same principles form the foundation of The Achiever’s Compass. Passionate about raising a generation of Christian thinkers, leaders, and achievers, Joseph believes deeply that young believers are doubly positioned for success by the sure promises of God and by the faithful application of proven principles. He continues to teach, mentor, write, and serve with a singular burden: that Christian youths will rise to live “above only” to the glory of God. Joseph is married to Esther. They have three children.
