Sometimes the most powerful things God does in our lives begin in the quiet seasons we never would have chosen. The conception of this 40-Day Devotional & Journal began in April 2020 during the COVID-19 shutdown. On Thursday, August 27, 2020, at 6:45 p.m., I transferred all the devotionals I had been sharing on my WhatsApp Status into my Google Drive. What began as daily encouragement for friends and family became the seed for this devotional. And perhaps, even now, it is becoming a word of encouragement meant just for you. On Saturday, January 22, 2022, the vision came alive. I saw the book’s title and the page layout — Scripture, devotional message, prayer, and journal reflection prompts. From that day forward, I partnered with the Holy Spirit as He guided me through every stage of the writing process. I continued writing and recording Holy Spirit downloads as voice memos on my phone whenever I was driving. Then on Thursday, February 24, 2022, at 12:43 a.m., I wrote these words: “This devotional book will be on New York’s #1 Best Seller list for many years, and millions of copies will be sold worldwide. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.” Then, on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, one of my mentors challenged me to post YouTube Shorts for 30 days. I obeyed God’s voice through her, using nothing but my phone to consistently share devotional snippets on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp Status, and later Threads. Every post became a lesson, a stretching, and a seed. I remain deeply grateful to my Heavenly Father for trusting me to share His Word with His people. I have lived through every page of this devotional — each word flowing from my own journey of intimacy with the Lord, the love of my life, and from the lessons He has faithfully taught me as I have walked closely with Him. This devotional has been a labor of love — formed through obedience, sacrifice, prayer, fasting, faithfulness, and steadfast commitment to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. From 2019 to 2025, I learned to abide in God’s presence and cling to His promises through seasons of brokenness, praying and fasting, separation, divorce, moving in with my sister Jackie and her family, being financially scammed, graduating from culinary school, living with chronic pain from a herniated disc, undergoing two surgeries and multiple lumbar epidural injections, and so much more. Through it all, I wouldn’t change a thing. I have seen firsthand that in all things, God truly works for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. Because at the end of the day… God has the final say — in my life and in everything that concerns me. It is my prayer that no matter what you’ve gone through — or are walking through right now — you will cling to the promises of God and know this truth deep in your soul: At the end of the day… God has the final say. You may be wondering why this devotional journey is forty days. Throughout Scripture, forty days often marks a sacred season of preparation, testing, and transformation. Moses spent forty days with the Lord on the mountain. Elijah traveled forty days in the strength God provided. Jesus fasted and prayed for forty days before beginning His public ministry. In my own life, seasons of forty days of prayer and fasting have often been times when God has drawn me closer to His heart. This devotional follows that same rhythm — a space to seek Him, listen to His voice, and allow His Word to shape your life from the inside out. With Love, Leria
