About the Book

Bennie Nobles, born in the Carrollton area of New Orleans, grew up as the eldest of four, shaped by a close-knit family. His father, a World War II Navy veteran, transitioned from insurance to fulfilling his dream of running a neighborhood grocery store, where the author learned the value of hard work. Childhood memories include Catholic schooling, family moves between New Orleans and Metairie, and formative moments—from a BB gun injury that required months of recovery to humorous family stories. In this autobiography, the author looks back at his life and career, starting with his choice to pursue pre-med at Loyola University in New Orleans. He went on to earn a degree from LSU Medical School. Choosing obstetrics and gynecology, he trained during an intense residency at Charity Hospital, gaining hands-on experience delivering thousands of babies and encountering both extraordinary and tragic cases. Guided by strong mentors and grounded in faith, he built a long, impactful career in medicine—delivering babies for more than fifty years. The author is humbled and blessed to share the Lord’s blessings in his life with others—and he prays that the Lord will speak to his readers through His word in the Bible.

About the Author

Bennie Nobles, M.D., has many memories as a resident at Charity Hospital—some good and some bad. For instance, in January 1973, a 23-year-old Navy veteran, Mark Essex, entered a nearby hotel and started firing shots over the area with a sniper rifle. The black nationalist killed nine people in two separate attacks. After completing his residency, the author went into private practice in 1974 at Lakeside Hospital in Metairie, Louisiana, embarking on a career that spanned several decades.
