As she stepped out onto the patio, she felt the warm, gentle breeze as it enveloped her. She closed her eyes, she lifted her head towards the warmth of the sun, and took in a deep breath. It was a perfect day, not too hot, not too cool, it was just right. She took in all the scents as the breeze swirled around her head. The moisture in the air gently brought the earthy scent of creosote to the yard; it was one of her favorites. She always stopped to smell the creosote bushes as she hiked the mountains. She opened her eyes just as the wind chimes started to sing their familiar melodies. The sound of the voices from inside the house captured her attention as she sat outside on the patio. She could smell the wonderful scent of turkey - mmm, turkey, her favorite. It was Thanksgiving Day, and she wished this Thanksgiving Day could be like all the other ones she had celebrated with her family; however, she knew that could never be possible. She closed her eyes again and thought of the very first time she celebrated Thanksgiving Day with the family she loved and the most amazing meal she had ever had in her life! “Time to come inside now,” his quiet voice called to her. She knew it was time; it was time to celebrate this special day in a new way.
