About the Book
From the outside, the Harrison family looks like a fairy tale. Inside, the light is hospital bright. When Brandon and Kristin’s daughter, Ella, becomes medically fragile, she teaches them a new alphabet: EEG, IEP, MRI, while monitors hum through the night like tired lullabies. The Harrisons learn to love each other in waiting rooms, to measure time in doses and small victories, to keep showing up when there’s nothing left to feel brave. Marriage here isn’t tidy. Brandon and Kristin stumble, argue, mend, and try again, two imperfect people building shelter out of whatever the day gives. And there’s another ache: the quiet judgment from people they love, delivered by text, in an offhand comment, or at the door on the way out. They are questioned. They are second-guessed. They are worn thin. Still, they keep choosing Ella. And when faith strains under the weight of it all, Kristin dares to tell God the truth. She’s upset. In that honesty, she discovers a grace that holds. This book is for parents defending hard decisions, spouses fighting for their marriage, and anyone caring for someone medically fragile who wonders, in the dark, if they’re the only one.
About the Author
Kristin is a compassionate advocate for families navigating life’s most difficult and sacred journeys. Caring for her medically fragile daughter led her through profound grief, seasons of doubt, and honest wrestling with God. In those tender and difficult places, she discovered that even in the darkest moments, His sustaining grace never let’s go. Through lyrical storytelling and practical encouragement, Kristin writes to comfort families who feel unseen and to point them toward steadfast, Christ-centered hope.
Kristin holds an MS in Management of Information Systems with a concentration in Cybersecurity from Bellevue University. Her love of learning, creativity, and caring for others has shaped much of her life and work. In addition to writing, she is a professional photographer in her community, where she enjoys documenting the beauty of everyday family life and serving alongside her AJK team on wedding days. Whether she is telling stories through words, capturing meaningful moments through her camera, or using her gifts in technology and service, Kristin is drawn to work that helps people feel seen, supported, and cared for. Across each part of her life, her heart remains the same: to serve others with compassion, excellence, and grace.
Above all, Kristin treasures her calling as a wife and mother. She married her soulmate, Brandon, in 2007, and together they have built a life marked by deep love, enduring faith, and steadfast perseverance. Their daughter, Ella, is Kristin’s greatest joy and one of God’s sweetest gifts in her life. The privilege of loving her family through both the beautiful moments and the deeply difficult ones has shaped her in lasting ways. It has softened her heart, deepened her faith, and given her a profound compassion for others walking similar paths. Her writing is shaped by that sacred place where sorrow and grace meet, and by a hope anchored in the faithfulness of God.
