In a very real sense this is my journey of coming to know the Holy Spirit as He educated, empowered and led me on my journey in coming to know and obey the Triune Godhead. My willingness to change theological positions can be attributed to the Spirit’s enlightening and guidance into all truth. I have faced many forks in the spiritual journey where I had to decide whether to go along with my theological heritage or follow the Spirit’s guidance. Though hard at first, I have never regretted following the Spirit into the truth. For no one knows the truth of scripture except the Spirit of truth. The Spirit like Jesus before Him are the only ones who know truth as presented in the 66 books of revelation. The rationale of man combined with the grammatical historical method of interpretation cannot give us the truth. Bruce Waltke in his book, The Dance between God and Humanity writes: “The scientific method, which we traditionally call the grammatico-historical method is appropriate for understanding the text, but it is inappropriate for the principal aim of Christian understanding of Scripture, the knowledge of God”
This is why the disciples needed the first comforter in the gospels to point out the errors of the religious leaders and teach and empower them to be set apart, what we call holiness. It is also why disciples today need the second comforter to point out the errors that the traditions of men have composed which claim to be the truth. As J. I. Packer states, “It is through the Spirit that Jesus thus communicates understanding, and apart from the Spirit there is no understanding. The whole New Testament assumes this.”

About the Book
With the coming of Jesus, the first comforter, all are exhorted to come out of their darkness and into the light of His presence, John 3:19-21. People have been hiding from God ever since Adam and Eve rebelled and fell in the Garden of Eden. Unfortunately, Christians still hide from God and are often self-deceived into thinking the Spirit of God doesn’t want to discuss the dark thoughts and actions that are imprisoning them. This book on the Second Comforter describes Phill’s spiritual journey on how he has found the abundant life Jesus promised and how others can experience a true knowledge of the Triune Godhead that is possible by developing an intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit.
