We may not be aware of the intention of others’ prayers for us. I am a recipient of someone else’s prayer. The prayer is for me to stay close to God. My story is a testament of the power of another’s prayer for me at a time and place I could not have imagined. I will share my experiences that moved me away from God, kept me from going to church, and even had me denying the presence of God for over fifty years. I want to encourage readers to look for the power of transformation in someone’s prayer for you or your prayer for someone else. It may not come in a timely or expected manner or even during one’s lifetime. My mother’s prayer for me was answered after her death in a manner I could never have fully imagined. My restored faith gave me the strength to start a journey to heal emotionally from the grief, shock, and pains of my formative years. Although I have been on this spiritual and emotional journey for many years, I now have the peace to write about the story of a prayer answered.

About the Author
Mary Gelormino lives in Brooklyn, New York, her place of birth. She holds a bachelor of science degree and a master of business administration from New York University. She is also a graduate of the Stonier Graduate School of Banking, as well as the American Institute of Banking. Mary’s family did not have the financial means to send her to college. She persevered and pursued all of her higher education in the evening over a twenty-plus-year period while receiving financial backing from her banking institution employers. She progressed in her forty-three-year baking career from a clerk to senior vice president before retiring. For over twenty years, she has been a part-time professor in fields of management, banking, marketing and entrepreneurship at various universities. Her spiritual development endeavors include participation in a service missionary project with her students in Costa Rica and a Saint Francis of Assisi Leadership Program in Assisi, Italy. Mary has served in many professional, civic, and board of directors roles. She has received many honors for her community service, including from the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, the Boy Scouts of America, the borough president of Brooklyn, HearthShare, Sigma Beta International Honor Society, and the New York City Council. She is the author of Giveaway Your Takeaway (2022).
