Everyone goes through at least one thing that rocks them to the core and leaves them stranded for a while, sorting out their faith and learning to surrender to God even if it is not turning out the way they imagined. For me, that experience was infertility. In the early years of our marriage, Tim and I had decided to walk in faith regarding children. We decided to not use birth control and to trust that God, in His timing, would bless us with children. Little did we realize that God would use that step in our lives to draw us nearer to Him like nothing else. After four years and no pregnancies, we started to wonder if something was wrong. The work began to see why we had not conceived. At first, it was simple blood tests and physicals to research the basic issues. The doctor did not see any physiological reason why we had not conceived, so she prescribed Clomid—a drug designed to help women increase their chances of conceiving. I did get pregnant quickly. We were ecstatic! It was all so exciting. This was God’s plan. I wanted to shout it out to the entire world! I started wearing maternity clothes right away and loved everything deeply—especially green olives and salty French fries dipped in a chocolate shake. About the Author
Tim and Brenda Lindsay have been married for thirty-eight years. Tim spent twenty-five years in the United States Army as both an enlisted man and officer serving in the Rangers, Airborne, Mechanized, and Air Assault Infantry before retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. Since retirement, he served as a program manager for various companies and Governor Youngkin of Virginia. Brenda is a teacher and homemaker.
