About the Book

Every person faces disappointment in life (whether Christian or non-Christian) and eventually contemplates whether or not God is really good. This book explains how the God of heaven always has our good in mind, and will do what He needs to do to get us where we truly need to be. In a true and riveting story of God’s work and goodness, retired pastor Bill Gowder leads us on an inspirational journey through his life experiences and the experiences of his two brothers, David and Mike. God chose to relentlessly pursue the hearts, minds, and affections of these three men as they walked individual yet mysteriously parallel paths. Beginning with his story and an in-depth look at what the Bible says about self-deception, Gowder then shares Mike’s experiences along with biblical insights about anger and peace, and then David’s story, followed by a look at what the Bible says about the extremely difficult concept of forgiveness. Finally, Gowder draws together the similarities between their stories and lessons learned, as well as a few thoughts on addiction. You will find yourself hooked as you read these true stories that include violence, courtroom trials, prison, revenge, theft, attempted murder, racism, modern-day Naziism, demon possession, a serious machete injury, a severed thumb, and a lot of humor, as well as the convincing argument for the goodness of God!
