About the Book

Come on the ultimate police ride-along! You’ll experience real people dealing with real life and death challenges from the front seat! You’ll meet people experiencing the greatest challenges of their lives. You’ll be amazed some survived, and perhaps not surprised if they don’t. No call for service is the same. No outcome is predictable. Everyone you’ll meet will have one thing in common, they’re all searching for answers in a broken world, in all the wrong places. You’ll find yourself leaning into the turns as when we’re running code three (lights and siren) to the next call. When we arrive, you’ll see things through the eyes of a cop, often in the dead of night. Some things, you won’t be able to unsee. You’ll meet people you’ll never forget and find yourself praying even now for their healing, hoping they meet Jesus in time. Some of the people you’ll meet will share their confusion, pain, tears, and anger. Others will make sacrifices and bargains that will amaze you. As each call comes to its inevitable conclusion, Casey will point you to the hope we have through the grace found in God’s Word. About the Author

Casey Dorland spent 31 years working in law enforcement in both California and Oregon. He worked in very rural locations where police “back up” options were very limited and conditions were primitive and encounters were dangerous. The term, “one riot, one ranger” would be apropos for many calls for service.

Casey lateralled from a deputy sheriff position in California to a municipal agency in Oregon and retired as a Lieutenant. Casey is a graduate of the prestigious FBI National Academy. During his career, he held virtually every position available to him from working a resident (substation) post, to undercover narcotics and K9 Handler/Trainer, to Training Officer, School Resource Officer, Detectives, Field Supervisor, Watch Supervisor and more. After retiring, he continued working as a specialized investigator for an agency in Oregon for many more years.

As a Christian and a Cop, Casey recognized that the answer to the brokenness of the people with whom he interacted was the work Jesus did on the cross.

Casey and his wife, Sheryl have two daughters and five grandchildren. Casey and Sheryl believe the Gospel message is the answer to the challenges all people face in this life.
