A Devotional for Women Navigating Infertility and Faith

Growing up, I never imagined that I would struggle with infertility. If anything, I was scared that I would get pregnant too soon. So, when it finally came time for my husband and me to start trying for a baby, I expected it to happen right away. During those 10 years, I remember feeling so disappointed. Disappointed that my life did not look the way I thought it would, disappointed because we desired a child and felt that we had so much love to give, disappointed because our prayers weren’t being answered. Disappointment steals your joy and can leave you feeling hopeless. It can cause us to miss out on all the good things that are happening in our lives, because we are only focused on what we don’t have. God knows the desires of our heart and is not intimidated by our emotions. It is in those moments when we are at our lowest that He wants us to cast our cares upon Him because He cares for us. He wants us to come to Him and be honest and vulnerable in our conversations with Him. There is power in releasing your burdens to Him. Matthew 11:28–30 NIV says: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” When we release our burdens to Him, we are saying “Lord, I am hurting and don’t understand why this is happening, but I trust that you are good and know that you have everything under control and will get me through this.” There is a supernatural peace that comes when we surrender our hurt and burdens to the Lord. I would encourage you not to be afraid of allowing yourself the space to have honest conversations with the Lord. His love for you is greater than you can ever comprehend.

About the Book
The ups and downs, and the roller coaster of emotions that come with trying to conceive, can be devastating at times, and the need to surrender our hearts to the Lord is crucial in order to have peace, hope, and joy. I wanted to create a space for the women who are believing and praying for a child, as I know how hard that journey can be when the road doesn’t look the way you thought it would. This devotional and journal is a space where you can share your heart and be encouraged along the way. Most women struggle with infertility in private, which can be extremely isolating. In this devotional, I share all the emotions that I experienced in my own struggle with infertility. My hope is that you can feel that you are not alone in this journey and know that God is present in both the highs and lows and that His love for you is immeasurable.
About the Author
Alicia Grant, originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, has called Los Angeles home for the past decade. She has been married to her husband for 12 years, and together they have walked through seasons that have deeply shaped their faith and commitment to God. Alicia serves faithfully in her church’s women’s ministry, where she is passionate about encouraging women to experience healing and to walk confidently in the freedom God has designed for them. Her heart is to see lives transformed through faith, hope, and the truth of God’s Word. For ten years, Alicia and her husband endured the emotional and spiritual challenges of infertility—a journey marked by both sorrow and unwavering trust in God. Throughout that season, they experienced His sustaining grace, restoration, and strength. In January 2025, their long-awaited testimony of God’s faithfulness was fulfilled with the birth of their beautiful baby boy. Today, Alicia shares her story as a testament to the faithfulness and sovereignty of God. She is devoted to encouraging others who find themselves in seasons of waiting, reminding them that God sees, hears, and is always at work—even in the waiting.
