o Luc hopped off the bus and headed home down Willowcreek Road. His older sister Sophie skipped ahead with some new friends. But Luc walked all alone.
He opened the door, dropped his bag to the floor, and sat on the couch with nowhere to go. And just like yesterday and the day before, Luc looked out the window and thought: will I ever make friends of my own?
“Coucou, Luc! Hello my boy!” His mom walked over with a hug and a kiss. “Ça va? Make any new friends today, mon chéri?”
Luc shrugged. “No maman, pas aujourd’hui.”
Maman rubbed his shoulders; she held his face. “That’s okay, mon fils. You’ll make new friends soon. We can try again demain.”
Sophie could make friends so easily. Yet for Luc, he always froze and didn’t know what to say. And so here he was again, all alone.
But that was all about to change.
