Since the beginning, God has made it incessantly clear that he is not only unimpressed by our religious performances and piety, but burdened by them. Still, somehow we brush over this and continue to do the religious can-can, believing that “tickets to heaven” will be offered to the highest kicker. Some stick up their noses and say “if you're not kicking, then to hell you go” and this couldn’t be further from the truth. This is the lie that has hardened the hearts of so many precious children of God. Religion has caused so many who are unfathomably loved by God to feel as though they have been rejected by him. The standard that has been set by man made religion is much too high for the weary to reach - It's too much weight for the hurting ones to bear. The can-can is exhausting and let’s be honest, it’s a stupid dance anyway. I want to say to those who walk in shoes of shame and rejection due to their experience with the piety of religion, God is not mad at you. You don’t have to do some elaborate 15 step ceremonial conversion or change your diet to be accepted by him. You don’t need to dress in fine linens, memorize hail Mary prayers or ride your bike around town in a suit. As a matter of fact, you could have never been on a bike or in a suit ever in your life and God will still receive you as his own. Go figure. This’ll scare the religious when I say it, but guess what.. God doesn’t require you to clean your life up at all before you come to him. It wasn’t God who shamed, condemned and rejected you, that was people and people were wrong. The most significant revelation I've ever received in this life is that religion is not God, God is God.

With a heart full of truth and a story marked by grace, she writes to share her journey and the freedom she found when she began to seek God for who he truly is - not through religion or religious ritual, but through relationship. Though not formally college educated, Jayde has always had a gift for written expression that she now intends to give back to God.
