About the Author
Janet Dalton Forman’s detailed autobiography chronicles her life’s journey as a Franciscan Sister, spanning from her religious upbringing to her deep connection with the living Jesus. The book also includes her desire to find her Mr. Right and recounts their life story from their beginning to present day.
From 1965 to 1972, as a Franciscan Sister of Clinton, Iowa, she lived a life of religious devotion. She spent three years in the novitiate as Sister Mary Augustine, OSF. After the novitiate, she participated in her community of sisters’ transition from habits to secular clothes, and she reclaimed her baptismal name, Sister Janet Dalton. She taught fifth grade at St. Gerald’s School in Oaklawn, Illinois, with a gold band on her ring finger as the only outward symbol to her committed promises. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Education from Marycrest College in Davenport, Iowa.
She is a devoted wife of forty-three years to Brian D. Forman, her Mr. Right and steadfast prayer warrior. As a mother, she is blessed with two wonderful children: Abigail Joy Forman Lee, married to Ray Lee, and David Ryan Forman, married to Hope Gilmore Forman. She is Nene to five amazing grandchildren: Rexford R. Lee, Arden C. Lee, Brighton T. Lee, Ezra G. Forman, and Oliver B. Forman. She is a loving sister to three fun-loving sisters: Sara, Betty, and Susan, and a generous older brother, Ken. She misses but holds dear memories of her three deceased brothers: Billy, the oldest, Russell, the youngest, and Louis, the closest to her in age. As an aunt to thirty-four nieces and nephews, and several greats, her family is precious to her.
She retired after working at IBM from 1973 to 2001, with a career that included a benefits administrator and an instructor certified in whole brain thinking. She is a certified water aerobics instructor, a former United Way campaign organizer of Greater RTP, and a twenty-year breast cancer survivor!
