I had my dad’s long flashlight stuck in the back of my blue jeans as I climbed that crazy rope. Joe’s light was shining on me as I spun around in the air on that rope going higher. the light made strange shadowy shapes on the wall as I climbed. Finally, I reached the cliff wall where the concave part ended and the straight up started. Joe; I was holding the light watching Randy climb. He was twisting and turning as he went up closer to the straight up part. When he finally got on the cliff I thought, oh no. That’s not good. He is about to climb in his own shadow. He will not be able to see anything in front of himself. Randy; I got my left hand onto the wall and grabbed a bump of limestone. Then I got my left foot on the wall just past the undercut onto something and the rope went slack. The hook bouncing past me as I screamed out, “Watch out!”

About the Book
This book is a collection of short stories that cover a special friendship between two high school boys looking for adventure everywhere they go. The adventures suddenly stop and become life threatening when one becomes trapped in a wild cave and needs the other to become his rescuer.
About the Author
Randall Speck is a retired Staff Sargent from the US. Army. He spent 6 months in Iraq in 2003 as a Heavy Truck Operator. His jobs over 21 years included being a Tank Commander/Gunner, and a Cavalry Scout along with HET Operator and NBC NCO positions.
Joe Owens continues to reside on the outskirts of Lynchburg where he worked for 18 yrs in HVAC, 25+yrs for the phone co. but His faith, family and friends are most important to him.
