The Heart of Waiting Through Infertility

Preview from Chapter 3: Simple math lesson… Isaac was 40; now he is 60. They prayed for 20 YEARS before God answered their prayer with… spoiler alert…twins! Before our journey with infertility, I would read verses like this and breeze past the word “barren” or “childless” and think, “Well, they get pregnant at the end of the verse, it can’t be that big of a deal.” I was ignorant and prideful. I had no idea how much pain could be condensed into one verse. Now I read these verses very slowly. I hurt with this couple. I cry with them. I know a little bit of what they were going through, and it breaks my heart. All those years of praying, they didn’t know when or how God would answer their prayers. The important reminder is they kept praying! They were hopeful that God would move. You don’t keep asking unless there is hope that it might happen. It may not be the way you think it will happen. He may move and change your heart. He may move and open new doors for you to step out in faith and trust Him. He may give you a new desire. What we know is God answers our prayers, in His way and in His timing. We can put our hope in the faithfulness of God. He is working and moving even when we can’t see.Ex
