About the Book
How often do we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus and simply refer to it as the Easter season or Easter Sunday? And as we do this, we likely conjure up the idea of cute little bunnies, colored eggs and Easter baskets. Why not consider using the term the Resurrection season or Resurrection Sunday to refer to this holy time in which Jesus fulfilled God’s plan of redemption for all people. In an explanatory and critical-thinking style, Steve Laureanti takes us on a 47-day journey to explore Jesus’s suffering, death and resurrection from a practical and theological perspective.
Using the biblical text itself, Part 1 marks a turning point in Jesus’s public ministry with His face turned to the cross. This being His fourth and final year of public ministry, He begins to explain and speak plainly to His disciples about His imminent suffering, death and resurrection.
Parts 2 and 3 look at the details of the events that take place on each day of the Holy Week (Palm Sunday through Holy Saturday).
Part 4 looks at the events that take place on Resurrection (Easter) Sunday as the day that Jesus, the Messiah, fulfills God’s plan of redemption for all people through His bodily resurrection.
Each day of this devotional includes Bible verses to guide you through each part, including insightful analysis and additional scripture to consider in this journey to the resurrection of the Messiah.
