JANUARY 1 Scripture “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 4:6–7 (NKJV) Reflection Anxiety has a way of creeping into our lives, doesn’t it? We worry about the future, about our families, about health, finances, or things we cannot control. The weight of it can press heavy on the heart. But in this passage, the Apostle Paul gently reminds us that God offers us another way. Instead of being consumed by anxiety, we are invited to pray. Prayer isn’t just a duty or a ritual; it’s an open, honest conversation with the One who loves us most. It’s where we bring every fear, every burden, and every hope into God’s presence, trusting Him to hold what we cannot. And notice how Paul encourages us to pray with thanksgiving. Gratitude shifts our focus. It reminds us of God’s faithfulness in the past and helps us trust Him for what lies ahead. And here is the beautiful promise: when we lay it all before Him, His peace, a peace that defies logic, a peace that steadies our souls even when circumstances remain uncertain — will guard our hearts and minds. This peace doesn’t mean life will suddenly become easy, but it means that in the middle of the storm, we can rest knowing God is in control and we are not alone. Prayer Heavenly Father, thank You that You see me, know me, and love me. When worry rises in my heart, remind me to bring it quickly to You in prayer. Teach me to trust Your care and lean on Your promises. Fill me with gratitude for the ways You have already shown Your faithfulness. And Lord, please surround my heart and mind with Your peace — the kind of peace that only You can give. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen. Kendall’s extensive experience spans 29 years in Law Enforcement as a Deputy Sheriff with the Broward County Sheriff’s Office. Lauderdale Police Department, and the United States Secret Service, where he offers spiritual guidance and support.
