Relentless Love
I was the definition of
lukewarm in my faith. I was hoping by doing these good
deeds, God would not pursue me as closely so I could have
the freedom to pursue what I wanted without him completely leaving me.I always wanted to have God at arms
reach. I wanted God when I needed God. How many of you
reading this are doing that now or have done that? God
knows every single version of all of us, no matter how bad
we don’t want Him to. He knows the version of us that has fallen. He knows the version of us that we are ashamed of.
He knows the fears we hide from the world. He knows the
version of us we portray online. He also knows the real you
behind the facade. He most importantly knows the heart He
created us with. He knows our pure heart before it was
damaged by our selfish, sinful, decisions.
In my life, like many of you, I’ve been through very dark
times and moments during my journey. I should have
pursued The Source of life and not the life I wanted. No
matter how fast and far we run we cannot outrun the shadows of our selfish decisions. When we get farther from The
Source the shadows of darkness grow longer and more
obvious. The nearer we draw to The Source, the shadows of
the past, that have constantly chased us, and hide our
deepest secrets, shame, and regrets grow shorter and can
eventually cease to be seen.
Why do we pursue love in an earthly form so relentlessly?
Are we actually pursuing “not being alone?” We will literally
give up everything and everybody else for “the one.” We will
give everything precious to us that we cannot replace, like
time, trust, and love. We will go through earthly hell, even to
the point of giving up our own lives, to feel unrequited love
from the other person. Sadly, while we are pursuing that
relationship, without God leading us both equally, we are
running away from God. The same God that created us,
fights for us, forgives us, never leaves us, always believes in
us, and knows us better than we know ourselves, is left
farther behind in the dust. Why are we running away from
that? If that was a person we would run toward them and
beg them to never leave our side. Why are we not begging
God to stay with us? Why are we pursuing Him less than
even the most beautiful woman in the world, knowing she is
not perfect? God has everything we need and knows
everything we need. He will fulfill us in ways that goddess
will never be able to. God never intended us to be alone, so
why not run toward Him and beg Him for that perfect
soulmate? When He blesses us with that person, there will
be a peace knowing it is God’s perfect plan for us.
Pursuing God should reflect that He is impacting every
aspect of our lives. Pursuing God should impact how we
love ourselves, how we love others, how we define love, and
how we receive love from others. I regret not pursuing The
Source of love and light earlier, because I know God could
have used me in so many ways that I’ll never know. If I had
just pursued Him, I would have known how to love the way
God intended. If I had pursued Him first instead of the love of my life, where would we be? If I had pursued Him instead
of money and status where would I be? God would have
blessed me in those areas without a doubt. Instead of being
left wondering if I’ll ever love again, I would be filled with
abundant joy. Instead of putting my trust in flawed family
members, I would have be abundantly blessed in my business career. Pursuing mankind over God will never satisfy
what we are designed to find fulfillment in. Pursuing God
will never leave us loveless and destitute. Real love does not
manipulate. Real love does not abandon. Real love does not
turn its back on others. Real love will never leave you
behind. Real love does not hold grudges. Real love
encourages. Real love inspires. Real love unites. Real love
heals. Real love never leaves your side. Real love forgives.
Real love knows no obstacles that are unbeatable. Real love
finds a way…
If I left you today, You would love me tomorrow…
What kind of world would it be without you…
Whenever I walk away, Wherever I may go…
Your love will forever follow
God’s relentless pursuit of us throughout our lives comes
from a deep desire to love us in such an intimate way that
nothing on this earth will ever compare. God’s compassion
for our lives will always be reflected in His love, grace, and
forgiveness. Just like the good Samaritan, He finds us where
we are. We are bloodied, beaten, and left for dead spiritually, and sometimes physically, by the world. He does not
leave us in times like these even after we have walked away
from Him time after time. He continues to pursue us as we are walking away. He is there to pick us up and see us
through the healing process no matter how long it may take
or the cost. I am forever indebted to my God for not leaving
me by the side of the road in this life like so many others
have. The example I hope we all follow and apply from the
good Samaritan is this…What use is compassion without action? The real question though is not if God pursues us even
after every wrong we have committed against Him, but do
we choose to pursue God after He forgave every wrong?
