During one Sunday morning service, I was alone as no other GIs were present. While sitting in the front row and participating in the service, I heard a voice say, "Come unto me." As a new Christian, I found this unexpected and decided to move to the back of the church to contemplate the meaning of the voice. Still pondering what just took place I decided to go back to base. Found myself by the lake on base with the bible trying to find a bible verse that had “Come unto me” in it. Just to be clear I wasn’t very astute in spiritual things. Just a baby in faith. Well, I did find a scripture that had “Come unto me” in it. King James Version Matthew 11:28-30. 28 Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.29 Take my yoke upon you and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. It is a call to Jesus to come to him for rest and guidance. Therefore, I followed the guidance of the voice and approached Jesus in prayer.

About the Author
Chuck Sessa is the retired program director of a diagnostic medical sonography program. He is now in the later stages of life with a wealth of spiritual experience. He resides in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and is married with three adult kids. Chuck is also a gifted song writer, singer, and guitarist. He’s been attending the same church for forty-five years and is a bible study teacher.
