Have you ever felt like you were created for something greater, yet every Sunday you sit in church watching others serve, grow, and experience amazing things with God… while you’re still waiting for someone to tell you what to do?
That restless feeling in your heart—that idea you can’t shake about how to improve something in your church or community—that’s not a coincidence. That’s God knocking at the door of your purpose.
Too often, we wait for a leader to choose us, to allow us to serve, to hand us the privilege of leading in a ministry. The truth is, you already have the calling to serve because God chose you first. He gave you gifts, dreams, and ideas that maybe no one else sees, because He wants to do something unique through you. He is the one who equips you and prepares you for what He’s calling you to do. You don’t need anyone’s permission to start preparing yourself to serve.
Have you ever shared what God placed on your heart, only for others not to understand? Don’t worry—that’s your sign. If you see it, it’s because God wants you to do it. Don’t give up. Don’t silence what the Holy Spirit has lit inside you just because others don’t get it… yet. They are not supposed to. Your job is to pray and ask God to give you the knowledge, guide you, and open the door you need to get the job done. This stage is very vulnerable; you have doubts, and you usually feel alone with your idea, as if you have no support. That’s ok, it’s the way it should feel. The best way to navigate this stage is to connect with the Holy Spirit for guidance and inspiration. Remember, if you can do it on your own, you might miss God’s vision. Don’t worry, once you have your mission clear, the right people will show up, even when you don’t even plan it. That’s when you know you are on the right path.
The other option is to do absolutely nothing. When we don’t respond to God’s calling, purpose is delayed. Blessings get held back—not just for us, but for others who need what God wants to do through us. Here, we feel that we lack purpose and get disappointed with life. Sometimes we don’t understand it. It’s as if we have an emptiness that cannot be explained. Even when everything is going well in life, you still feel something is missing.
This book is an invitation: to rise, take the first step, lead your life with purpose, and help others encounter Jesus and be saved. If you are feeling that emptiness or already know your purpose, I hope that the following pages will provide you with some insight into how to move forward in your calling.
There are countless ways people can come to know Jesus through you. Not every calling is from the pulpit. Maybe your calling is to beautify the church so that when people walk in, they find a warm, clean, peaceful place where they can listen to God’s Word. That ministry has the same value as any other. Perhaps your ministry will visit people experiencing homelessness and engage in honest conversations with them. Make them feel seen, or have coffee with older Veterans, or organize a play day in a local park for young kids and their parents. As I said, there are countless ways to reach people.
I recall praying and feeling a profound desire to serve the Lord. I was feeling that I was missing something in my life. I serve, I attend church, read the Bible, and love God with all my being; yet I felt something was missing. One day, as I was doing my morning devotional, I told Him, “I don’t know how to preach. I can’t sing. I’m not a prophet.” Honestly, I didn’t see a place for me in ministry.
But in His kindness and mercy, the Lord reminded me: I’m a teacher. I’ve spent years working in education. What if I put that experience to work for the Gospel?
That’s how this beautiful journey began: equipping others to identify and develop their calling, creating and carrying out projects to build the Kingdom of God. That’s how The Art of Leadership with Purpose was born in our hearts, and in the hearts of a group of people who have joined this vision.
And if you’re already a leader in your church, this book is for you, too. Because your role is to inspire, to listen, to encourage, to pray, and to love. Every person in your church has a calling. Your job is to help them discover it, not to replace it with your own ideas or decide on behalf of God or them. Sometimes, we lack creativity in the church, thinking outside the box, and we miss out on numerous opportunities to grow various ministries. We must remember that God is creative, and since we are made in his image, we too are creative. It comes naturally to us.
I desire that this book sparks a revolution of purpose. That churches would become places where everyone can serve, grow, learn from God’s Word, and feel valued—without comparison, shame, or judgment. When we see our Christian life as one full of purpose for God’s Kingdom, we experience a fullness that nothing else in this world can give. I hope that these pages will provide you with the tools to be part of that revolution—and even more, to lead it.
This book isn’t just about learning leadership—it’s an invitation to live your faith with purpose.
We want to help prepare you as a leader—not only within the church, but also in the real world, where life unfolds at school, in your neighborhood, at work, and in your community.
