INTRODUCTION:
Welcome to Becoming An Everyday Warrior! I want you to know that I wrote this book for YOU! God laid it on my heart that the things I have gone through, others are going through or will go through. He knew YOU needed to hear this message. As you read through this book, please know that as I wrote it, I prayed for you. I prayed peace and understanding, an open heart, and a willingness to do something new! I prayed for strength and a divine determination. I prayed that when this book was in your hands you would be ready for change. God sees you, and He knows what battles you have fought, the one you are in right now, and what the next one will be. It is up to YOU though whether or not you endure defeat or walk in victory. This is the perfect place to start to find out what it is going to take do life with a kingdom mindset. WELCOME!
So, what is a warrior? What kind of character does a warrior have? What weapons does a warrior need? What actions does a warrior take? How often does a warrior fight? What kind of training does it require to become a warrior? Why should I become a warrior? Once I become a warrior, how do I stay a warrior? Are there benefits to being a warrior? These questions, and more, are the basis of Becoming An Everyday Warrior. My goal in writing this book is to use my own life experiences, words of wisdom others have spoken to me, and the Bible to provide answers to the above questions. My hope is that we can begin to lay a solid foundation for waging war against the devil, that we can stand firm knowing we only have ONE enemy, and build your faith so much that you too, join me in becoming an everyday warrior!
The thing about God is He goes before us, and He wins our battles before we ever walk in them. All we need to do is recognize that victory is already ours and take authority over our lives. We are OVERCOMERS! We are above, not beneath. We are the head, not the tail. We are crowned with dignity and worth. We are VICTORIOUS! We can do ALL things through Christ who gives us strength. We are blessed and highly favored. We are delivered from the powers of darkness. The Spirit of God dwells within us. NO weapon formed against us will prosper. God is working ALL things together for our good. We have so many promises from God that we can stand on. Once we develop the skills we need, gain some experience and grow our confidence the devil doesn’t stand a chance!
Here is a preview of everything we will start to learn in the coming chapters:
1. What is a warrior? What is the purpose for becoming a warrior?
2. Leaning into God’s strength and power (Allowing him to be our strength when we are weak)
3. Putting on the full armor of God
o Wear the belt of truth (Have personal integrity and moral courage)
o Put on the breastplate of righteousness (Living our life in a way that pleases God)
o Wear the gospel of peace (Peace in God and the peace of God)
o Lift up the shield of faith (Learn to trust in God fully)
o Take the helmet of salvation (Protecting ourselves with the covering of Christ)
o Take up the sword of the Spirit (Being in and hiding the word of God in our hearts)
4. Learning how to recognize and resist our enemy (We have ONE enemy – the devil)
5. Wielding your weapons (How to choose your weapons and what they are)
As we dive in and uncover the message and lessons God has for us, let’s start by praying so that we are able to receive everything He has for us as we dig deeper into His word.
OPENING PRAYER:
Father, I come to you right now, from a position of knowing I lack what I need. But also knowing You have everything I need to be successful. God, I boldly ask that you give me revelation and strength and that You meet me in my weakness. God, I thank you for your word and the instructions you give me. I pray today my heart is humble, open and ready to be renewed, transformed and empowered. God thank you for the opportunity I have right now to build up my faith, to walk in truth, and to live my life according to the kingdom and your will, not my own. I look forward to the process of becoming more like you. Lord, I give you permission to purify me and to put me through the fire. Help me get to a place where I can walk boldly in the purpose you have for me. I pray all of this in your name, Amen.
