Matthew 6:26 says, "Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are?" If you are more senior in your years, disabled, or unable to work and have not invested for later, the Bible offers comfort in that passage. God provides for the birds of the air and He will provide for us.
Those of you who have youth on your side consider the following passage from Proverbs. Proverbs 6:6-8 says, "6 Take a lesson from the ants, you lazybones. Learn from their ways and become wise! 7 Though they have no prince or governor or ruler to make them work, 8 they labor hard all summer, gathering food for the winter." These verses show us that the ants work extremely hard in the summer (during their working years) so that in the winter (retirement) they will not starve. Chapter 4 Investing, pages 46-47
