About the Author

The author is a former social worker, teacher, and youth advocate/therapist. Her life started in the 70s when she lived in Brooklyn, New York. It wasn’t an easy life since she was exposed to verbal and physical abuse by witnessing her mother’s past relationships.

She was exposed to such an environment from an early age as she witnessed her mother getting abused at the hands of her father. Her alcoholic father didn’t hesitate to abuse her mother physically and verbally. But she grew up hopeful as her mother showed her that anyone can overcome those circumstances.

In the 90s, her mother freed herself from the chains of abuse and divorced her husband while she decided to be headstrong in raising two kids as a single mother. They moved to Baltimore with the help of their neighbors and family, looking for a fresh start.

The author’s youth was a series of unfortunate events as she battled cancer along with her mother’s illness and fought many other internal battles but always managed to emerge victorious. She slowly yet successfully began to better her life.

Life started to look up as her cancer recessed and her renewed life began. She went to church, started her professional career, and became a youth advocate.
