Never apologize for being yourself
While my wife and I were in England, I was reminded of something that I used to say and have always believed. For far too long, many Christians have been made to think our way of speaking, our way of thinking, and our way of living for Jesus somehow had less value than everyone elses. It has caused many to become shy in sharing their faith for fear that they would be mocked and ridiculed, or even threatened with loss. In other words, we’ve allowed others to shape our opinions and cause us to stray off course instead of staying on course with Gods plan for our lives.
“I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And THAT my soul knows very well.”
Psalms 139:14 NKJV
You might say, ‘Yeah but I’m just a simple guy trying to take care of my own house and family. What can I do, I’m not a pastor. I’m nobody important enough for anyone to listen to. I’m just trying to keep my head down and get through life.’
Maybe you can relate to King David’s question to the Lord:
“Then King David went in and sat before the Lord; and he said: “Who am I, O Lord God? And what is my house, that You have brought me this far?”
II Samuel 7:18 NKJV
“What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him?”
Psalms 8:4 NKJV
Interestingly enough, Job asked a similar question:
““What is man, that You should exalt him, That You should set Your heart on him,”
Job 7:17 NKJV
People have been asking the same question for centuries. And for centuries God has been answering with the same answer. “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
Jeremiah 29:11 NKJV
“For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 8:38-39 NKJV
“Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.”
I John 3:1 NKJV
Throughout the ages God has been reminding us constantly that He loves us and thinks about us always.
See what He reminded me of was to NEVER APOLOGIZE FOR BEING YOURSELF.
He made me in His image and to apologize for that would mean that He messed up or made a mistake. And He doesn’t make mistakes. I was on purpose for a purpose. The mistake would be on me for not being who He meant me to be and in not being confident enough in Him to be willing to share my faith with others. And honestly, why should I be quiet especially when I know He saved me from the pits of hell, He set my feet upon the rock and put me on the path of righteousness. I don’t know about you but when I remember THAT it stirs my faith unbelievably. All fear leaves me and an incredible boldness comes upon me. Why?
Because “Greater is He who is in me than he that is in the world”.
I decided a long time ago to seal my decision and I will not change my mind.
I have settled it, have you?
If you have then never apologize for being what He created. I don’t see any mistakes in here. Be what you were meant to be.
My prayer for you and every Christian is that BOLDNESS comes upon you and that your tongue is loosed to tell of His greatness. I’m believing for what the Apostle Paul prayed for, “and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel,”
Ephesians 6:19 NKJV
