Tent Dwellers

As they sipped water from small cups, Silvia turned to the shepherd and hesitantly asked, “Latvan, tell me about your God. We believe in one God and His name is Yahweh. When I lived with my father, everyone called Him Jehovah. His name is so sacred that sometimes the elders would never say His name aloud. They would only whisper His name. Especially the name ‘Elohim’. My abba told me Elohim means Most Holy God.”
Silvia sat beside the shepherd under the wild olive tree which shaded three large sheep and a few young goats. Latvan gave her a secretive smile as he used a branch to draw a circle in the soil in front of the tree.
“I really cannot tell you too much about Him because He has no form or shape which can be described. There is nothing physical about Him, yet I know when He is beside me. There are times I can feel His arms around me when I am sad. I can only tell you about His Voice. It is a very pleasant Voice most times.”
“There have been a few times when His Voice sounded angry with me, but not angry like an angry man or woman. He chastises me when I do wrong, yet His Voice is soothing, like a mother cooing to her baby when I do what He tells me.”
