Chapter 5 The Safe Path It was a sunny day in the forest, and the Bear family was getting ready for a great adventure—a hike to the top of a nearby hill. Before setting off, Papa Bear gathered Brother Bear and little Bibi to explain the importance of staying on the path and listening carefully. “Today, I want you to stay on the path I’ll show you. Remember, I’m taking you on the safest trail,” explained Papa Bear as he adjusted Bibi’s backpack. Brother Bear listened attentively, although he was already imagining that the forest had many different paths to explore. As they walked along the trail, Brother Bear noticed another path that veered off toward a group of tall, mysterious trees. Without much thought and full of curiosity, he decided to explore on his own. Nothing bad will happen; it’s just a small detour, he thought. But soon Brother Bear realized he was alone, and the forest seemed darker and more tangled. Suddenly, he tripped over some roots and got a small scratch on his paw. “Ouch! This doesn’t seem as fun as I thought,” he said with a bit of fear. Papa Bear, who had noticed his absence, found him and gave him a reassuring hug. “Brother Bear, I told you to stay on the trail because it’s safe. I care for you and know the best way to go,” he explained calmly. Brother Bear felt sorry and understood the value of obedience. “I’m sorry, Papa. I wandered off because I thought it would be fun, but now I understand that you told me to stay on the path to protect me,” he said. Papa Bear smiled and explained, “Just as you can trust that I’m taking care of you, Jesus also wants us to follow His teachings, because He loves us and wants the best for us. When we obey, we show that we trust in His love and care.” Brother Bear nodded, learning that obedience was a form of love and trust. That afternoon, as they finished the hike together as a family, Brother Bear and Bibi understood that both Papa Bear and Jesus always guided them on the safe path. Moral “If you love me, keep my commands” (John 14:15). Thus, Brother Bear and Bibi learned that obedience was a way to show love and trust in those who care for them.
