Haphemania: The Touching Man

Chapter 9: Extreme touchies. Extreme touchies are touchies that form on everything I touch. I literally mean EVERYTHING. I would describe it as one continuous touchy that never ends. It starts on the morning I wake up and ends when I go to bed. This touchy forms on all objects I touch or see during my day. It is a non-stop action of going from one object to the next trying to prevent “bad thoughts” from happening. The only stoppage in the touchies is when I’m in-between the objects I’m performing the touchies on. The touchy immediately begins on the next object as soon as the previous touchy ends. It is one continuous loop. Extreme touchies are the most distressing touchy because I’m in a heightened sense of panic. It has ill effects on my health being in a constant “scrabble” to touch items in the right manner. My heartbeat goes up, blood presser rises and adrenaline kicks in. My body goes into a “flight or fight” mode because of the incessant urges to touch every object in the room. To get a better understanding of extreme touchies let me take you to when I first wake up in the morning. Slumbering out of my sleep, I wake up and I come to consciousness in my bed. My hand is lying on the sheets, just off to my right side. Well, a touchy forms on the sheets and I have to “readjust” the sheets in the “right” manner. Pushing the bed sheets up or down until I get the right “feel” of it. Lifting my head off the pillow will induce a touchy on the pillow whereby I have to put my head back on the pillow until it feels “right”. Coming out of the bed and putting my feet on the floor will form a touchy. I will have to put my feet back under the sheets and take them out again until it feels “right”. My alarm clock has to be turned off with the right “feel” of the bottoms. Getting dressed will cause touchies when taking off my shift in the morning.
