Day 4: Is anything too hard for the Lord?
“Is anything too hard for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return to you, about this time next year, and Sarah shall have a son.” — Genesis 18:14
Have you ever heard someone make a statement so unbelievable that you couldn’t help but laugh? That’s what Sarah did when she heard what the Lord said in Genesis 18:10. How could an old woman, worn out and past her childbearing years, give birth to a child? Often, God does things in our lives that defy human understanding. Because God had previously spoken to Abraham, nothing could stop that promise to come to pass—not even Sarah’s physical limitations and old age.
There are two key statements to remember in this verse: “Is there anything too hard for the Lord?” and “At the appointed time, I will return to you.” By asking if there’s anything too hard for the Lord, it emphasizes that nothing is impossible for those who believe in Him. For Sarah it was her infertility; for you, it might be something entirely different as you read this. One thing is certain: He never abandons us or forsake us. No matter how long the storm you are facing has lasted, He is asking you today if there is anything too hard for Him to accomplish in your life. How will you respond to that question?
The second statement to remember is “At the appointed time, I will return to you.” God created us within time, but He exists outside of time. He ordained the time, date, and place of your birth. Nothing happens by coincidence. Your life is not just something that happened, it was perfectly planned by God. He knows when and how your life should unfold. It is natural to feel frustrated when things do not go as planned, but before you ever had a plan for your life, God already had a perfect one that will manifest in His time. Notice what He said to Sarah: “At the appointed time.’’ There are circumstances that will happen in our lives at the appointed time. Your faith cannot be built on what your eyes see. You must believe in your heart that, just like Abraham, you will see the faithfulness of God—no matter how long it takes. Would you open up your heart today and believe that there is nothing too hard for the Lord and that, at the appointed time, everything He said will become a reality for you?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, I believe it in my heart and confess it with my mouth: There is nothing too hard for You, and at the appointed time, I will see your promises come to pass in my life.
