More Than A Sandwich Maker

Have you ever wondered why you and I had to work the jobs we did, or perhaps why circumstances in life seemed to be difficult or unfair? If God is Lord of all, why does He allow us to experience difficulties and challenges we face in our lives? Many of us do not understand the journey we are on because many people seem to not be able to overcome events of their past or the struggles of everyday life. But what if God was using these difficulties to fashion us for something greater down the road, something that perhaps you are unable to see with the current lenses you are wearing? When a blacksmith takes a block of steel, he places it into the fire to soften it up and prepare it for the time when he will begin to strike it on the anvil, gradually shaping it to be transformed from a raw mass of steel into the design that he has envisioned. Even though the fire is hot and the striking at times can be painful, we can take comfort in knowing that we are on the anvil of the Master Himself. When we look at the Potter, He begins with a lump of clay, which at the beginning has no shape. Yet, little by little, it softens as He works it with His hands, and transformation slowly takes the lump of clay to what it will become down the road. As the Potter works the clay, the Potter is ensuring that the vessel will be able to hold what He wants to pour into it. But He realizes that every vessel is distinct and unique. So, as He works the clay of your life, He already knows what He is going to place inside of it because He has you on His mind. He is so careful even with the smallest of details because of how special that vessel will be to Him. The ultimate test will come when He places the vessel in the kiln for the firing process. Once done, He will examine the vessel to ensure that it has completed its journey of being formed, shaped, fired, and ready for use. For some of us, the journey seems like it is taking a lot longer, while for others, it may seem shorter. Every individual is different just as every assignment will be different. No two can be compared. Likewise in the body of Christ, no two pastors, teachers, evangelists, prophets, apostles, or workers—including all of His children—can be compared to one another because everyone is different. Yet, the ultimate goal remains the same. We are all working towards establishing God’s Kingdom. Whether you are serving in a traditional church setting or functioning outside the walls of the church, we are all one body working on one single mission, and that is to prepare the world for the eventual return of Jesus Christ. Let’s walk together as I share with you “the story of us,” the Lord and I, and how the Lord led me from Florida to Canada. I will share with you what I have learned, walked through, and what God has taught me along the way. We will journey together and explore some of the processes that God uses to lead us toward our destiny and calling—what I call “gold in the making.”
