Reading the Bible in chronological order is important, because it allows for a deeper understanding of biblical narrative of Bible prophecy. It guides us to follow the sequence of events, providing a clearer picture of the historical context, and revealing how themes and characters develop over time. Ultimately, it leads us to a more comprehensive grasp of God’s plan throughout the Scripture.
Similarly, setting the last-day events of the Bible prophecy in chronological order will provide clearer picture of prophecy events that will take place without any confusion, or mixing up events that will take place one before the other.
Through my extensive study and Biblical research, I have come to conclude that the progression of Biblical end time events corresponds to the sequence of the rapture, tribulation, second coming of Christ, bounding of Satan, millennium, release of Satan for a short period, throwing of Satan into the lake of burning sulfur, judgment of the dead, and the eternal state.
The Bible does say there will be terrible conflict in Israel during the end times. That is why the time period is known as the Tribulation, the Great Tribulation, and the “time of Jacob’s trouble”.
In the first three and a half years of the tribulation, the temple will be built in Jerusalem and Jews will start sacrifices and offerings. Israel will be protected by God during this period. “A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head” (Revelation 12:1; Genesis 37:9).
First: the rapture is the catalyst that kicks off the prophetic calendar. All those who have placed their trust in Jesus Christ, dead or alive will be caught up in the air with Christ to be with him forever (1 Corinthians 15:52). The rapture of the church will cause the start of the tribulation period.
Second: The rapture is the divine appointed time for God to bring home to himself those who belong to him before the tribulation events take place on earth (1 Thessalonians 5:9).
Tribulation period begins when the “Church” will be raptured to be with Christ. The purpose of the tribulation is for God to give another chance to His people Israel, to prepare them for her Messiah, Jesus Christ; as their Lord and Savior and to be reunited with Him in the millennium. God chose Israel to be a light to nations so that they would reflect God’s character and show others what obedience to God means. Sadly, his people disobeyed Him; as well as they rejected and crucified His beloved Son Jesus. However, by His grace God will soften their hardened hearts during the tribulation period, so that they will accept Jesus as their Messiah and become a light to all nations. Tribulation is God’s wrath. “For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now; and never to be equaled again” (Matthew 24:21).
The second half of the tribulation period is considered the Great Tribulation, which will be the most awful time on earth. When you read the stories about the rule of the Antichrist, you’ll learn that you will have to take his mark to buy groceries or do any financial transaction. Many Christians during the tribulation will starve to death because they will refuse to take the mark of the beast; some will even be martyred by the beast because of their faith in Christ (Revelation 13).
God’s final warning to mankind. The first angel will proclaim the eternal gospel to the entire population on earth. John sees three angels where each angel has a specific mission. The first angel gives the final invitation to accept Christ. God is using the first angel to preach the gospel.
The second coming of Jesus is the capstone event when He will establish God’s kingdom. This event will be the climax of God’s redemptive history. Jesus’ first coming on Palm Sunday was on a donkey; a meek animal; but at His second coming, Jesus will be riding on a white horse as a warrior, whose “name is the Word of God” (Revelation 19:13), and along with Him will follow the raptured saints (the church). He will stop the battle of Armageddon, will defeat the Antichrist, and judge the sinners at the end of the tribulation period.
The millennial kingdom refers to a period of 1000 years during which Christ will establish His Reign (Kingdom) on earth. This will occur immediately after the tribulation period when Christ descends on Mount Zion. He will bring His peace and righteousness over the inhabitants of the earth during this time.
Revelation 20:2-6, gives us the precise time period of the millennial kingdom.
At the end of Christ’s millennial reign, at the beginning of the sixth dispensation, Satan will be released from his prison to deceive many. Satan will also succeed in gathering nations for a final rebellion against God. Finally, God will capture Satan and cast him into the lake of burning sulfur where the Antichrist and the false prophet have already been cast after their defeat at the battle of Armageddon.
God made a promise with Noah that he will not destroy the earth again by flood. Yet, He has promised to deal with the world with fire. God will destroy the earth and its atmosphere, as well as the second heaven including the stars, the planets, and the galaxies. All elements that make up heavens and earth will be dissolved by supernatural heat. But in keeping His promise, God will create new heavens and new earth for both His people and children.
John records in Revelation 21-22 about God’s creation of the new heaven and the new earth, where the New Jerusalem becomes the holy city. This event marks the beginning of the eternal state.
