My Simple Prayers

Where do I begin? Humbled by the insights I have learned and the miracles I have experienced leading to the writing of this book. I cannot wait to share many of my amazing stories of being led by The Almighty, all sparked by a simple prayer. But before I dig in, I want to give you some background information about me. Here we go.

My name is Karen Jensen Langsam. I am the daughter of a dedicated and gifted chiropractor, Harry W. Jensen, and a brave and adventurous woman, Joan P. Jensen. As I affectionately called them, Joan and Harry were married until death did they part. Before my dad went to be with the LORD, my parents raised six humans. They are all beautiful on the inside and the outside. I have had the privilege of “bringing up the caboose.” Presently, Joan faithfully prays for her ever-growing family, including twenty-one grandchildren and currently ten great-grandchildren with more on the way.

My incredible husband of three decades, Andy, has enjoyed the blessing of raising five amazing people with me. We have three girls and two boys. The birth order is staggered; girl, boy, girl, boy, girl. A few years after I retired from the business world, the Lord put on my heart to educate our children at home. My mother lovingly helped me teach all five of our children for twelve and a half years. I am not superwoman. Without a lot of additional help over the years, I could not have accomplished what the Lord had put on my heart to do. Currently, our youngest is in a brick-and-mortar school. You will get to know us in the following pages as I share some of my God stories with you. My desire is that you get to know Jesus and fall deeply in love with Him through these stories and biblical truths, which I have learned along the way. I have no experience as an author, but I have spent a lot of time in His Word and in prayer. These pages are a labor of love and an act of obedience.

I diligently began working on My Simple Prayers, when God called me to write this book in October of 2013. Then, two serious health trials put this book on the back burner. The second health trial took my eyes off the prize. Thankfully, God is faithful even when we are not. Finally, in offering it to you, I hope to bring Him glory through these crazy, amazing stories and prayers. Though they happened to me, they are truly His stories. I share them and much more because you never know who will pray for you and encourage you to return to your first love, Jesus. Someone you are praying for right now may be the person God Almighty uses to rebuke you gently. Someone you are praying for right now may be the person Adonai uses to drive you to the hospital. Someone you are praying for right now may become your child’s in-loves (in-laws). Someone you are praying for right now may become a mighty man or woman of God serving in ministries across the globe. You never know how full circle Jehovah may go in answering your prayers for others, which later becomes a blessing to you—a tapestry of grace.

I pray you will be as inspired as I have and want to jump right into this amazing journey of life with the best friend you could ever have, the Creator of the Universe.

Karen Langsam is one of the most loving, Godly women that has crossed my path in well over a decade and a half. The book, My Simple Prayers, is Karen’s oath to God fulfilled. I have been an enlightened witness to her tests of faith, her incredible ability to cling to the grace, faithfulness, and mercy of the LORD and to seeing her be a strong victor in Him rather than a victim. It personifies Revelation 12:11.

Called to write this book by the LORD, she has been obedient, enduring, not only in telling her story and sharing her prayers, but by building on Scriptural Word and Biblical Truth. Like the ocean is made up of millions of drops of water, Karen’s simple prayers fill the golden bowls of prayers before God’s throne, Revelation 5:8. Those prayers are poured out in loving answers for you, me, and anyone that this saint prays for in His timing!

I believe this book will be a blessing to you and will lead your soul to a stronger walk with God. When I read it, I heard Karen’s fun, engaging voice and pure intent pour out onto the pages.
