There isn't a day that goes by that God doesn't remind us of His undying love. The glowing sun, a baby's smile, the laughter of friends, the joy of giving, the gentle breeze and twinkling stars, a life guard's wave, a bird's sweet song, medical miracles and musical notes, a generous heart and seeing eyes, honest deeds and growing trees all provide us with undeniable assurances that we can hold fast to the belief that God loves us with an everlasting love. God reminds us in all of our life experiences, both good and bad, and in the acts of nature, pleasant and unpleasant, that He loves us and cares about our eternal destiny. It is because of His love for us that He sent His son to die so we can be saved. God wants us to experience eternal life. He knows that we are living in perilous times.
So, it is true that the headlines are dismal and discouraging, but the story doesn't end there. All the terrible things happening in the world signal the imminent destruction of sin and the world that currently exists. The world is coming to an end AND something glorious is about to happen. Jesus is coming again! Jesus is coming again! Jesus told His disciples that when all the things that are currently happening are taking place, it means that “it [His coming] is near – at the doors!” Matthew 24:33. What does Jesus’s coming mean for you and me? The Bible says, "And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away." Revelation 21:4. (NKJV)
What a glorious promise! Yes, the headlines are distressing, but don’t dwell on the headlines; focus on the certainty of God’s word, and the blessed hope it provides. Keep trusting God. Hold on to his promises because His word assures us that “he who endures to the end shall be saved.” Matthew 24:13 (NKJV).
While you take note of the terrifying headlines, remember, that’s not the end of the story. If you believe that Jesus loves you and that He died to save you, there is hope for you. Soon, He will come again and all tears will be wiped away. There shall be no more death. That is the certain truth.

Desryn Tessa Ann Collins is a woman of God. Her experiences as a wife, mother, sister, sister-friend, neighbour, immigrant, lifelong Educator and passionate Christian have provided her with a unique depth of understanding of the many issues that confront us in life. She resides in St John’s, Antigua which has been her adopted country since 1995 when she migrated from Guyana, South America. For nearly thirty years, she has been married to Albert Michael Collins and they have three adult sons - Rhodri, Aldryn and Vaughn who keep her grounded. She lives by the conviction that God loves us with an everlasting love so we can rest peacefully in all of our experiences.
