Gomer - The Chosen Prostitute As the chosen wife of Hosea, Gomer must have been envied by the “Perfect” young women. Those who kept themselves pure, waiting for the right man. How jealous they were because Gomer was chosen instead of them. I can imagine how she became the talk of the town and how people gave her “the side eye” and whispered behind her back. Gomer was thrown into this life. Like many pastor’s wives, she was not trained for this. No one left her a manual on how to act and what to do. We do, however, see in 1 Timothy 3:11, an outline of sorts on how the deacons’ wife is supposed to comport herself. It states, “Likewise, their wives must be reverent, not slanderers, temperate, faithful in all things.”

When we hear verses about being chosen by God, we get all excited. We are chosen by God, himself! The creator of the universe has chosen us as his own! We are a special people, we are set apart, a holy nation…. I could go on and on. But the recurring theme in this narrative which often fails to receive due emphasis is this: we are chosen or appointed for HIS purpose; to do as HE wishes.
Nadia Valentin is a highly anointed and unique vessel of the Lord. She is the wife of Bishop J.Z. Valentin and is the mother of three beautiful children, Jó-Hannah, Joël, and Jahël Zion.
