If an electromagnetic pulse ever struck Manhattan, all electronics would become inoperable. The size of the area affected would depend on how high it detonated in the atmosphere. There would be some loss of life in the aftermath, but the most devastating effect would be how survivors would continue on with the rest of their lives. Mass transit and cell phones would cease to operate, stores plundered, and fear would quickly result in riots. Being an island, the only avenues of escape would be air, water, or underground, which meant bridges, tunnels, and waterways. So, our first mission was to research all three options, with the massive subway system playing a crucial factor in our quest for the shortest route to the East River.
“Have you ever heard of a pneumatic subway?” Michael asked during our second meeting before going on to explain. “During the late 1860s, an American inventor, publisher, and patent lawyer named Alfred Ely Beach got the idea from pneumatic mail tubes used, at that time, in Great Britain. In 1870, after much discussion with New York City officials, he was allowed to dig a 300-foot long, 8-foot diameter tunnel that ran under Warren Street, down the middle of Broadway to Murray Street. The entrance was at 260 Broadway, corner Warren St., directly opposite City Hall. An eighteen-seat single train car, plush on the inside, originated from a station that looked like a lush apartment with chandeliers on vaulted ceilings and paintings on the walls. A giant fan blew the car through the tube from one end of the tunnel, then blew in reverse, creating suction that brought the train car back to its original point. Unfortunately, the project went bankrupt and was ignored for forty years as other innovative ideas, such as elevated trains and the like, took precedent. Beach’s pneumatic vision, though, did not go to waste, as the U.S. Post Office still uses the concept to this day.”
“Why am I telling you this?” He asked without waiting for a reply. “Because I want to inspire you to research other possible underground areas in Manhattan that we could use for a quick escape, shelter, or even equipment storage.

With the help of a wealthy Wall Street Broker, Michael Giordano, his family, and other resources, they develop an ingenious full-proof escape plan using the city’s underground transportation system and waterways.
After facing multiple challenges while attempting to escape, they finally locate themselves, their families, and their followers on a 1,000-acre mountain ranch in a small, northeast secluded Georgia town where they have a Lodge, several cabins, a medical clinic, and a church. There, they team up with Pastor John Banks, Sheriff Parker, Marine Major Bartlett, the National Guard, and local rebel groups to thwart the Turkish Emperor Salahadin’s Global Peace Keepers’ ambitious plan to invade, as they have done in Europe, major cities within the United States. Throughout the story, this small group of people face all odds in preparing themselves and others to survive the coming devastating end-time signs so that No One is Left Behind!
About the Author
Albert O. Geraldi, husband and father, is a Christian and devout believer in the written Word of God. He is a retired decorated NYC Police Officer and Academy instructor who served in the Vietnam War as a Special Forces Green Beret A-Team sergeant. Albert Geraldi is a 9th Degree Black belt teacher in the Okinawan Martial Art known as Ryukyu Kempo, and is the founder of a martial art association Zenkokyu Ryukyu Kempo Karate-Do Renmei, Inc.
Donna T. Geraldi, wife and mother, is a Christian and devout believer in the written Word of God. She is a former NYC Police Officer and Academy Instructor, and who received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, a Master’s degree in Social Work, and a Doctorate in Christian Counseling. Donna Geraldi is a Licensed Clinical Pastoral Counselor under the National Christian Counseling Association, a Commissioned Minister of Counseling, and a Florida Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She is also certified in Theophostic Prayer Ministry and is the founder and director of New Day Christian Counseling & Life Coaching Center, Inc.
